Nestled between Brisbane River and Brisbane CBD, the City Botanic Gardens are a welcome reprieve from the busyness of city life. Set on 20 hectares/49 acres, the gardens provide around 5km of interconnected paths encompassing rainforest, formal lawns, lagoon and avenues of mature shade trees. Thank you Brisbane City Council for maintaining these beautiful gardens and making them so accessible.
While not technically a bushwalk, the gardens include a rainforest and water features that may just help to restore your equilibrium if you find yourself in Brisbane City and in need of a nature escape. Brisbane City Botanic Gardens can be accessed from Alice St, George St, the Goodwill Bridge, and CityCats and ferries.

Walking along the path parallel to Brisbane River provides a lovely juxtaposition.

The rainforest, located near The Garden Club Café, is gorgeous. Here it is possible to escape completely from the nearby city.

There are so many spaces to discover and explore. The spathiphyllum lined boardwalk was particularly lovely.

The avenue of Weeping Figs, planted in the 1870's, provides intrigue to the gardens.

Brisbane City Botanic Gardens are a joy. A beautiful place to immerse yourself in life and recharge before entering the energy demanding city. With so many spaces, there is room for all.
