Map
Joalah National Park is one of the most popular and most beautiful bushwalks on Tamborine Mountain. The Joalah Section is home to Curtis Falls and the Lower Creek Circuit. Curtis Falls has to be one of the best reward for effort waterfall bushwalks in existance. At less than 1km return it is a must see. However, if you have extra time, add in the stunning 1.6km Lower Creek Circuit for a more immersive and adventurous experience.
Curiously, you only need to walk a few meters along the track to feel like you have been swallowed up and transported into another world. The serenity of the forest is complete. The track to Curtis Falls is straight forward, but can be quite muddy, even days after rain. It can also be quite busy during holidays and weekends. As inviting as it may seem, please do not swim in the pool at the base of Curtis Falls (stormwater runoff flows into the pool).

The Lower Creek Circuit follows the creek downstream from the falls. The path is well signed and maintained and is a pleasure to stroll along. Half of the circuit runs next to the creek, while the other half, still following the creek, is elevated about 10m up the side of the ravine.

Picturesque places abound. Everywhere you turn is another photo opportunity.

The second creek crossing has no foot bridge, so a spot of rock hopping is required here. Take care as the rocks are very slippery in the wet. You can always turn around and retrace your steps, however the other side of the creek does offer some really lovely views of the cascades. Besides, rock hopping is the funnest park of the walk—as long as you don't fall in!

Joalah National Park is a truly delightful place, with very little effort required for so much reward. Hope you get to visit here soon.
